Disneyland is booked solid from now until Christmas. Disney hotels are sold out or charging $500++ per night. This is the ultimate in consumer discretionary spending.
A gambler friend has informed me that Vegas has reduced the payout on Black Jack tables to 6/5 on Black Jack versus the historical 3/2. It has also reduced Craps table bets to only allow players to push their numbers bets twice during a roll. Clearly there is so much discretionary cash rolling around in Vegas, the casinos are able to squeeze the gamblers even more.
Neither of these examples happen in a recessionary environment.
