Tom Morrissey, B.Sc. M.Ed.
Director, Wealth Management and Investment Advisor
Tom Morrissey is a Director, Wealth Management and Investment Advisor, and the founder of Morrissey Wealth Group. His vision continues to be clear for his team as he is constantly engaged in refining the process to provide optimum wealth management components for clients as their lives unfold and their needs change. The practice is dedicated to assist high net worth families and family enterprise clients. Tom is very pleased to domicile his practice within Richardson GMP Limited; the largest, independent wealth management firm in Canada with nearly $27 billion in client assets under Administration as of January 2016.
Tom completed the Canadian Securities Course in 1986, updated it in 2004, and completed the Wealth Management Essentials course in 2008, the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) Hedge Fund course in 2009 and the Business Family Dynamics Course in 2014 from the Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) program. He is currently working toward becoming a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™.
Identifying, developing and focusing closely with clients on their objectives is Tom’s focus. He oversees the overall wealth management program for each client. He and Kim Bayne coordinate client engagement to ensure a precise, efficient platform and service model. Independent wealth management plans are tailored for each client providing the flight plan* for life. Tom directs the development and implementation of appropriate investment, tax, retirement and estate solutions to meet the objectives identified in the plan.
Adam Osterling and Kim Bayne collaborate with Tom to execute consistent assessment and execution of all client investment portfolio objectives.
Tom enjoys watching his two sons play hockey; one professional and one in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He mentors young, elite, defence, hockey players in the specifics of the position and in life skill development on the road to becoming responsible adults and role models in society. He also enjoys staying fit, mountain biking and playing golf.
Sarah brings over 9 years of experience in the wealth management industry to her role as Estate Planning and Insurance Specialist. She has completed the Professional Financial Planning course and is committed to ongoing education in order to better serve our clients. Sarah believes in long term, trusting relationships and works closely with Morrissey Wealth Group and their clients to provide customized solutions and strategies to meet their specific goals. Sarah previously worked with a bank owned firm.
Sarah is a key member of our wealth management team, assessing insurance needs and providing recommendations to meet the objectives of our clients.
Gareth Watson, CFA
Director, Investment Management Group
As Director, Investment Management Group, Gareth Watson plays a key role in helping to develop and communicate Richardson GMP's core investment strategy platform.
Gareth's extensive experience in equity research and private client advisory is integral in bolstering the capabilities of Richardson GMP's Investments and Advice Team. In support of his role as corporate spokesperson, Gareth's responsibilities include providing analysis and insight into the markets, working with print, radio, and television (BNN, CBC) media, and educating clients on the dynamics of the global economy.
Most recently, Gareth held equity research roles with Scotia Capital from 2001 to 2005. In 2005, he joined the Portfolio Advisory Group of ScotiaMcLeod with a focus on large cap Canadian Equities. His responsibilities included developing sound investment strategies, presenting investment portfolio solutions, and assisting investment professionals across the country with their business development initiatives.
As a graduate with high distinction from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Gareth received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He is a member of the Toronto CFA Society as well as a CFA Charterholder.
Mike George, CPA CA CFP®
Director, Wealth Services
Working closely with Investment Advisors, their clients, external professionals and other members of the Tax & Estate Planning team, Mike is responsible for the effective delivery of the wide range of wealth planning services at Richardson GMP. Mike is a Chartered Professional Accountant – Chartered Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner® and specializes in personal, corporate and trust tax planning.
Mike has been working with high net worth clients in the financial services industry for many years. He has extensive experience in the tax field and helps identify solutions to reduce taxes, enhance and preserve wealth, and transfer assets tax-efficiently to the next generation. Mike has played an instrumental role in delivering client-centred solutions including the successful transition of family businesses, the development of long-term employee compensation programs and tax planning for the sale of a business.
Mike is frequently interviewed on wealth planning concepts and tax-related matters. He also lectures on corporate taxation and has authored various industry publications and articles.
A graduate of the University of Manitoba, Mike received his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in 1991 and his Master of Accountancy degree in 1992. Mike achieved his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1995 and the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) designation in 2004. He has also completed his CICA In-Depth Tax Course and is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation.
Maureen Glenn, B.A. FLMI CFP® TEP
Vice President, Tax & Estate Planning
Maureen works with Investment Advisory Teams and their affluent clients to navigate the entire wealth planning process; from initial discovery with the client, through to the final presentation. She is a dynamic speaker who can translate complex wealth planning concepts into efficient and effective action plans for clients. This holistic approach combined with her financial planning expertise offers a unique and practical perspective to retirement, trust, and estate planning. Maureen mentors and works with the financial planners on the Tax & Estate Planning Team to ensure that consistently high standards are achieved in the financial plans delivered across the country.
Maureen joined the firm in 2006 and moved to the Tax & Estate Planning team in early 2010.
Maureen is a Certified Financial Planner® practitioner and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. She has completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) and the Canadian Investment Funds Course (IFIC). She also holds the designation of Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and other insurance designations from the Life Office Management Association (LOMA).
Robert Mendenhall, J.D., LL.M.
Vice President, Tax & Estate Planning
As part of the Tax & Estate Planning team, Robert works closely with clients and their Investment Advisors to identify solutions that address clients’ overall wealth planning needs.
Before coming to Richardson GMP, he worked at other financial institutions advising clients on trust, estate, and tax planning. Prior to that, he was a partner in a law firm. Robert obtained his Juris Doctor from the College of Law, University of Saskatchewan. Later, he obtained a Master of Laws degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University.
Robert has advanced his interests in wealth and estate planning by completing significant course work in tax and wealth preservation. He has also completed training as a family business advisor and has facilitated succession planning sessions with families.
Robert belongs to the following professional associations: the Law Societies of Alberta and Saskatchewan, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Canadian Bar Association.
