Thane Stenner, CIM®, FCSI
Director, Wealth Management, Portfolio Manager

Thane Stenner is the founder of StennerZohny Investment Partners+, a leading multi-family office within Richardson GMP Limited, the largest, independent, non-bank firm in Canada with $26B in client AUA as of November 2015.

Thane has almost 27 years of experience in advising ultra-high net worth families and their family office professionals across Canada. Prior to joining Richardson GMP Limited, Thane previously held roles as First Vice President with CIBC World Markets, and Director of Merrill Lynch International Private Client Group. Thane is also the Founding Member, Chairman Emeritus, and Former Managing Director of TIGER 21 Canada. TIGER 21 is an exclusive North American peer to peer network of high net worth investors with approximately 372 members who collectively manage in excess of $35 Billion in assets. Thane is a past TIGER 21 Advisory Board Member and is also a current Advisory Board Member of Gibraltar & Company Inc. a Toronto-based venture capital firm focused on private, emerging growth companies in the technology sector. Thane has also been an instructor at the Concordia University’s John Molson Family Wealth Program.

In addition to graduating with an honours degree in finance and a specialization in investment analysis and portfolio management from Arizona State University, Thane attended the Harvard Business School's Executive Program. He is a Portfolio Manager and holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation. He has also earned the designation of Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) – the highest designation within the Canadian investment industry.

Throughout his career, Thane has been active in his community as a member of professional associations including UBC Business Families Centre's Professional Advisory Committee, Canadian ETF Association, and serves as a member on the Public Guardian and Trustee of British Columbia's Investment Advisory Committee ($893 million dollar portfolio). Thane has also donated his time to charitable organizations including the YMCA, the BC Children's Hospital Foundation, and Partnership for a Drug Free Canada. Thane is the author of the national bestseller True Wealth: An expert guide for high net worth individuals (and their advisors). He is frequently quoted in Bloomberg, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Post to name a few. He also writes a column, “High Net Worth”, for the Globe & Mail's Report on Business. Thane spends his free time with his wife and his three children enjoying travelling, fishing, golf, and hockey.

Youssef Zohny, CIM®, BA, BSc
Director, Wealth Management, Portfolio Manager

Youssef Zohny is a Director, Wealth Management, and Portfolio Manager of StennerZohny Investment Partners+ of Richardson GMP Limited, the largest, independent non-bank firm in Canada with $26B in client AUA as of November 2015. As Co-Founder of StennerZohny Investment Partners+, Youssef co-manages our clients' investment portfolios by identifying, assessing, and implementing suitable investment strategies. Youssef leads the investment team’s market research and analysis while focusing on risk management, asset allocation, and due diligence.

Youssef brings discretionary investment management experience to the practice, having previously managed two alternative equity funds, one focused on Canada and the other globally. Youssef began his career as a quantitative analyst with an independent asset management firm and quickly became one of the company's key portfolio managers. In 2009, their Canadian fund was the best performing Canadian equity fund and their World fund was one of the top 50 performing global equity funds in Canada (Source: Bloomberg).

Youssef is a dynamic contrarian value investor looking for selective high conviction investment opportunities that offer asymmetric risk/reward profiles. He focuses primarily on lending his expertise in managing capital to high net worth investors, entrepreneurs, family offices, trusts and foundations.

As a graduate of the University of British Columbia, Youssef holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics & Mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He is a Portfolio Manager, holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation, and is a Level II candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program and Level II candidate in the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Program. Youssef also completed the Business Family Dynamics Course from the Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) Program.

Julia Cheng

Julia Cheng is an Associate with StennerZohny Investment Partners+ of Richardson GMP Limited. She has over 14 years of experience in the financial industry, 10 of those years as an important member of the StennerZohny Investment Partners team. Julia provides high standards of customer service to our ultra high net worth clients. She works closely with our investment team and is actively involved in helping to implement investment strategy. Julia brings an exceptional level of care and attention to detail on the investment execution platform for clients and leads day to day administrative operations.

Julia is a graduate of Simon Fraser University (SFU) where she attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. She holds the Financial Management Advisor (FMA) designation and has completed many Professional Development courses including Professional Financial Planning and Derivatives & Options licensing.

Julia is married with one daughter. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her daughter Kayla and also attending her fitness dance class.




Simon Jochlin
Associate, Portfolio Analytics

Simon plays a supporting portfolio analytics role in the operations of StennerZohny Investment Partners+, a Multi-Family Office group within Richardson GMP Limited. Utilizing a high level of technical knowledge in securities analysis and computer programming, Simon produces and refines a variety of research materials, analytics, and statistical data summaries. Simon assists the team in an administrative, research, and portfolio analytics capacity.

Simon is a graduate of Simon Fraser University (SFU), where he attained Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics, with a minor in Business Administration. Simon is a candidate in both the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programs. He is currently studying to complete the Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®), and Derivatives Market Strategies (DMS) Designations. Simon has a solid understanding of the wealth management discipline, as well as industry exposure with his three years of experience with TD Bank Financial Group.

As a philanthropic interest, Simon has developed and administrates a not-for-profit website that reports on the health and fitness industry. He is a competitive triathlete in Canada's Subaru Western Triathlon Series, a personal trainer, and played varsity waterpolo for SFU. In his free time, Simon enjoys surfing, traveling to remote hiking destinations, and spending time with family.

Jasmine Marichic,

Jasmine Marichic is an Associate with StennerZohny Investment Partners+, focused on client service and administration. Jasmine has many years of experience in the financial industry working primarily with high net worth clients. Her communication skills, client service abilities, and wealth management understanding help contribute to our exceptional service to our ultra high net worth client and their families.

Jasmine is a graduate of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) where she attained a Diploma in Financial Management. She also has successfully completed several financial courses from the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) including the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Personal Financial Planning Course (PFP), and the Conduct and Practice Handbook Course (CPH). Jasmine is also currently a candidate for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification.

Jasmine’s enthusiasm for travel has taken her to dozens of various corners of the world where she had the opportunity to experience various cultures and adapt to new unfamiliar surroundings. Her interests also include yoga, beach volleyball, hiking, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Becky Howarth,
Executive Assistant

Becky Howarth is an experienced Assistant in the financial industry, having previously worked with multiple teams at Macquarie Private Wealth and Richardson GMP Limited in Calgary. She currently assists the StennerZohny Investment Partners+ team with a variety of duties including sub-branch support and administration while offering leading service to our high net worth clients.

Becky is interested in continuing her education in the financial industry and is currently studying to pass the Canadian Securities Course. She has spent time organizing many charitable fundraisers, fishing, cooking and, most recently, travelling through destinations like Europe and Australia.

Gareth Watson, CFA
Director, Investment Management Group

As Vice President, Investment Management Group, Gareth Watson plays a key role in helping to develop and communicate Richardson GMP's core investment strategy platform.
Gareth's extensive experience in equity research and private client advisory is integral in bolstering the capabilities of Richardson GMP's Investments and Advice Team. In support of his role as corporate spokesperson, Gareth's responsibilities include providing analysis and insight into the markets, working with print, radio, and television (BNN, CBC) media, and educating clients on the dynamics of the global economy.
Most recently, Gareth held equity research roles with Scotia Capital from 2001 to 2005. In 2005, he joined the Portfolio Advisory Group of ScotiaMcLeod with a focus on large cap Canadian Equities. His responsibilities included developing sound investment strategies, presenting investment portfolio solutions, and assisting investment professionals across the country with their business development initiatives.
As a graduate with high distinction from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Gareth received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He is a member of the Toronto CFA Society as well as a CFA Charterholder.
Paul Adair, CFA, CAIA
Director, National Wealth Management Services
As Director, National Wealth Management Services, Paul Adair brings over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector to Richardson GMP. Paul is responsible for Richardson GMP's managed accounts for both third party and internal managers and for fee based advisory accounts. As chair of the Managed Accounts Committee, Separately Managed Accounts and Portfolio Managed Accounts Advisory Committees, he continues to develop and enhance our product offering.
Prior to joining Richardson GMP in July 2010, Paul was Vice President and Managing Director at BMO Nesbitt Burns responsible for their managed accounts and fee based advisory accounts. He was also Chief Investment Officer for the BMO Nesbitt Burns Group of Funds. Prior to joining BMO Nesbitt Burns in 1998 from CT Investment Management Group, he was an Investment Counsellor. In this role, he led a team of Investment Counsellors who had the direct responsibility for the investment management of private clients and trusts.
Paul holds a Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation. He has a MBA from York University and an undergraduate degree in engineering from the University of Waterloo. Paul also donates his time to the budget and finance committee of the Catholic Children's Aid Society.
André L'Espérance, LL.L.
Director, Tax & Estate Planning

André is responsible for leading and expanding a high quality platform for the firm's insurance capabilities. He is instrumental in delivering integrated and comprehensive wealth management solutions to help our clients plan and manage all aspects of their wealth, including business succession planning, intergenerational wealth transfer and the provision of low risk retirement income.

André has extensive experience in wealth planning with over 20 years in the industry. He has held positions of legal counsel, strategic planning and branch manager at Manulife Financial. Joining National Bank Financial in 1998 as president of NBF Financial Services, André was responsible for the delivery of estate solutions and financial planning services to high net worth clients across Canada. Before joining Richardson GMP, he held the position of Vice President, Private Wealth 1859 where his team delivered banking, investment and financial planning services to affluent clients.

A graduate of the University of Ottawa, André received his Bachelor of Law degree in 1984. He also completed the Executive Program at Queen's University School of Business in 1991. André is a member of the Québec Bar Association. He holds a Level 2 license in life, accident & sickness insurance and is registered as an investment representative under the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada. André is also currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF).
Robert Mendenhall, J.D., LL.M.
Vice President, Tax & Estate Planning

As part of the Tax & Estate Planning Team, Robert works closely with clients and their investment advisor to identify solutions that address clients' overall wealth planning needs. Once clients have a clear understanding of their planning needs, he focuses on helping clients and their professional advisors implement the selected solutions.

Robert is a lawyer with several years of experience. Before coming to Richardson GMP, Robert worked at other financial institutions advising clients on trust, estate, and tax planning. Prior to that, he was a partner in a law firm. Robert obtained his Juris Doctor from the College of Law, University of Saskatchewan. Later, he obtained a Masters of Law degree from J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University.

Robert has advanced his interests in wealth and estate planning by completing significant course work in tax and wealth preservation. Robert is a trained mediator and has actively mediated for the courts for many years. He has also completed training as a family business advisor and has facilitated succession planning sessions with families.

Robert belongs to the following professional associations: Law Societies of Alberta and Saskatchewan, Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, Canadian Tax Foundation and the Canadian Bar Association.
Maureen Glenn, B.A., CFP®, FLMI, ACS, AIAA
Manager, Tax & Estate Planning

Maureen uses her financial planning experience and leadership skills to ensure the smooth delivery of Tax & Estate Planning services. She uses her technical expertise to develop comprehensive wealth plans, working with Investment Advisory Teams from engagement with the client to the final presentation, and also supports our Investment Advisors with just-in-time inquiries and the development of educational materials.

Maureen joined our firm in March 2006 on the Equity Capital Markets team. In that role, she was responsible for all Equity and Structured Product New Issues and proprietary Private Equity offerings in the firm.

Maureen's previous career was focused in the Insurance Industry where she had worked since 1986. She delivered licensing and product training and also coached advisors on financial planning software and later took on the role of Financial Services Advisor.

Maureen is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner and has completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) and Canadian Investment Funds Course (IFIC). She also holds the designation of Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and other designations from the Life Office Management Association (LOMA).
