Betty Tomsett

Director, Wealth Management, Investment Advisor

I am your guide through the investment process, creating strategies and an approach best suited to your needs. My client centric practice, in conjunction with professional advice and investment expertise has been well groomed throughout my 29 years in the investment industry. Attending the University of Toronto and my extensive role in Commercial Banking at a Schedule A Bank paved the way for my career today. In my eleven years at Richardson GMP (previously Richardson Partners Financial) my practice projects an independent, entrepreneurial spirit within the framework of a strong business environment.

We provide extensive financial services to our clients such as, Portfolio Investment Management, Tax and Estate Planning, Individual Pension Plans, Alternative Income Products, Insurance Products, Retirement Projections and many more.




Lisa Sansone


Lisa has been the Administrative Assistant to the Tomsett Wealth Management Group since transitioning from Richardson GMP’s New Accounts department in July 2015. She brings 20 years of experience in the financial industry in operational roles, so is very familiar with navigating the paperwork and procedures of our back office. Lisa's forte is taking care of all the administrative details for our team, allowing Betty to focus on our clients’ wealth management needs.







Laura Gartenburg


Laura joined the Tomsett Wealth team in the spring of 2016 as an Administrative Assistant. Her diligent work for the team allows Betty and Lisa to spend more time with clients, enabling them to grow and enhance their portfolios. With her attention to detail and experience in customer relations she provides clients and her team with the best possible service.







Mike George, B. Comm (HONS), M. ACC, CA, CFP

Director, Tax & Estate Planning


Mike has been working with High Net Worth clients in the financial services industry for many years. He is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Financial Planner and specializes in personal, corporate and trust tax planning. Mike has extensive experience in the tax field and helps identify solutions to reduce taxes, enhance and preserve wealth, and transfer assets tax-efficiently to the next generation. Mike has played an instrumental role in delivering client-centred solutions including the successful transition of family businesses, the development of long-term employee compensation programs (including stock option and employee pension plans) and the reduction of tax on the sale of businesses by utilizing trusts to multiply the enhanced capital gains exemption among family members.

A graduate of the University of Manitoba, Mike received his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in 1991 and Masters of Accountancy in 1992. Mike continued on to achieve his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1995 and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 2004. He has also completed his CICA In-Depth Tax Course and is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation.



Sylvia Azoulay, LL.B., TEP

Vice President, Tax & Estate Planning


Sylvia works closely with Investment Advisors and their clients to explore and identify issues that address clients’ overall wealth planning needs.

She helps clients formulate objectives, understand issues and strategies and facilitates implementation of their goals. Sylvia understands the sensitive issues relating to family dynamics and wealth transfer.

Sylvia is an estate planning lawyer with many years of experience. Prior to joining Richardson GMP, she was a principal in her own strategic wealth planning firm and also spent many years in the financial industry dealing with wealth planning solutions for high net worth clients.
Sylvia has been an instructor at Humber College School of Business and at the Bar Admission course at the Law Society of Upper Canada. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Estate Planning Council of Toronto. She is a seasoned presenter on topics of importance to high net worth families.



Jason Middleton, CSC, CFP

Individual Insurance Consultant*


Jason's financial and accounting background allow him to take a comprehensive approach to advanced Estate and Insurance planning for clients. His "educate first" approach resonates well with clients, who feel that his solution-based recommendations are tailored to their individual needs.

Jason earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with Honors in Accounting and Corporate Finance in 1999 from the University of New Brunswick. He began working on his CA with Deloitte and Touche in 2001 after taking a sabbatical to train and try out for the Canadian Olympic Swim Team. Upon returning to the work force Jason completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 2003.
