Martin Danielak has been a part of the Friesen Capital Management team at Richardson GMP since 2012. Acting as the lead Chief Investment Officer, he is responsible for leading investment research, analysis, execution, and trading for all clients of Friesen Capital Management. Martin is passionate about studying and understanding various investments to offer the best service and educate clients on effectively managing risk. He has a proven track record in this capacity, having led Friesen Capital Management’s Tactical Growth Strategy to outperform the overall market since 2014 while providing downside protection during volatile periods.
As a Portfolio Manager and a Chartered Financial Analyst, Martin has a fiduciary duty to act with care, honesty and good faith, and to always put clients’ interests first. Martin truly understands that his clients’ trust and loyalty are of the highest importance and acts in a manner to enhance investor confidence. Martin consistently works with some of the leading Portfolio Managers at Richardson GMP to share resources and analysis with the goal of providing unbiased “institutional” investment offerings to his clients. This work has been instrumental in developing key relationships for Friesen Capital Management that give clients access to unique private and cash-flowing investments.
Prior to becoming a Portfolio Manager, Martin worked at a Market Risk Analyst at Canaccord Genuity in Toronto, where he gained valuable experience overseeing investments across the firm. He graduated from The Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, earning an Honours degree in Business Administration.
When not overseeing client portfolios, Martin enjoys spending his time outdoors with his girlfriend and dog. He has truly embraced the Calgary lifestyle as he loves to hit the mountains to shred powder during the winter months and then jumps on his road bike once the snow melts. To give back to his community, he remains very involved in educating and mentoring enthusiastic university students and recent graduates on financial markets and opportunities within finance.
