Starratt Wealth Management is proudly involved in important initiatives within our community:
Rotary International is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Members of our team belong to both the Canmore Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Calgary Crowchild. In addition, Mark was honoured to be District Governor in Southern Alberta for the 2008/09 year.
The Starratt Family Foundation was founded to advance education and research in neuromuscular diseases. We believe that we can maximize the effectiveness of the Foundation by creating partnerships to leverage the impact of the funds provided by our donors. We also seek ways to support enhanced accessibility for those with disabilities.
The Canadian Neuromuscular Disease Registry (CNDR) is a Canada-wide registry of people diagnosed with neuromuscular disease. It collects important medical information from patients across the country to improve understanding and develop new therapies. The term neuromuscular disease (NMD) refers to over 40 different conditions that affect how muscles and nerves work. These diseases are rare and complex, and affect many people of all ages around the world. Finding treatments has been challenging but recent medical and technological advances are changing that. New techniques and tools allow doctors and researchers to look at medical data from large groups of patients to find better ways to manage each disease and develop new therapies.
Paralympic Foundation of Canada
Can you imagine sitting alone in gym class while the rest of the class is having fun? Can you imagine needing costly, adapted equipment to participate in almost every sport? Can you imagine not having the support you need to excel to the highest levels in a sport you love?
Now IMAGINE… A Canada where sport is available to all.
Our GOAL is to ensure that the programs, equipment and people are in place to propel more Canadians with a disability all the way from the playground to the Paralympic podium.
Our DREAM is that no Canadian with a disability should ever face a barrier to participating in sport.
There are more than four million Canadians with a disability, but only a very small percentage of them are active in sport. Far too many Canadians with a disability have not been given the opportunity to become athletes. Mark is a member of the Board of the Paralympic Foundation of Canada
